HAPPY FIRST DAY OF LU-JO, 2013!!!
Keep It Spiritual, Make It Fun!
Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF expresses its deepest sympathy to Nona Sue Sheerer and her family in the death of our beloved brother Jim Sheerer on Wednesday, April 17th.
Jim started serving on the Camp Lu-Jo board of directors on September 8th, 1972 and actively served for 30 years. Along with being a long-time board member, Jim also served as a past Camp Director, Camp Board President, Board Secretary, Board Treasurer, and Honorary Lifetime Board Member. He is even more well-known as a wonderful preacher of the Word, devoted Bible scholar, and Christian gentleman.
Jim’s service on the Board of Directors has had a profound and long-lasting effect on Camp Lu-Jo. Words cannot express how grateful Camp Lu-Jo is for his service and he will truly be missed.
Funeral services will be held at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ in Chickasha, OK at 1:30pm on Saturday, April 20th. More information about Jim can be found on the McRay Funeral Home website.
These are the staff and campers of the first session (of 2) during the summer of 1963 who gathered in front of the north side of the old dining hall to pose for this photo. Clyde Sloan (in the suit at the very right), who was the Bible Chair Director at Cameron College in Lawton, OK was the Camp Director with Don Ray Williams (beside Clyde Sloan) acting as Co-Director. Some of us may still remember that old dining hall, but there aren’t many who still remember that old white siding!
Feel free to play Lu-Jo’s version of “Where’s Waldo” which we like to call, “Find Bill Mayes!” Who else can you recognize in this photo? We’d love to names with every face so please Contact Us to let us know who you remember!
